SolSource, Inc collaborated with Barrett Studio Architects to design and engineer a building integrated photovoltaic system for a couple building a high performance home north of Boulder.
The array consists of 28 Sharp 175 watt modules and two Sharp SunVista inverters and was designed with the possibility of future expansion. One array is attached to a standing seam metal roof with zero penetration into the roof deck to ensure a weather tight building envelope and the other is a ground mounted designed to help blend the overall look of the building to its surrounding landscaping.
The system is producing on average 550 kWh per month which meets 30% of the total usage of this three building residential compound. The owners are committed to environmentally conscious decisions both at home and at work. Their soy milk manufacturing company is one of the largest wind power purchasers in the US.
