MacDonald & Colton Home
Residential
Denver, Colorado

Environmentally concerned since the early 80’s, Arlene and Steve wanted a PV system that would meet their basic electricity needs. Their 5.92 kW array covers nearly the entire south-facing portion of their roof. For maximum sun exposure, the system consists of two separate sixteen-panel arrays. On average, 25 kWhs of electricity are generated per day.

The system consists of thirty-two Sharp 185 watt modules, with two SMA 2500-watt inverters. Located in a new residential neighborhood in the Highlands Ranch area of Denver, the system was installed in March 2004. Arlene noted that “After taking into account, our escalating utility bills and the rebate, we found the 4 to 5 year payback to be just another great reason to go solar”

The array produces approximately 8,737 kWh’s per year. The system will reduce the homeowner’s electricity bill by $725 electricity annually. Nearly 18,000 lbs of CO2 per year will also be abated due to the PV system.
