Solar Comes to the Poudre Valley Rural Electric Association
On September 27, 2007 Poudre Valley Rural Electric Association dedicated a 2.1-kilowatt solar demonstration project at the association’s headquarters in Windsor, Colorado. Cooperative representatives from across the state as well as local government officials were on hand for the ribbon-cutting celebration.

Solar Energy, Bikes and Colorado Springs
Positioned on the south side of the building, the PV awning has become a local tourist attraction. Wide enough to fit six cars, the PV awning provides cover the sun and snow, and generates clean energy for the Bike Shop. Tilted at 30 degrees, the Uni-Rac system rack was assembled using w14-30 steel uprights.

Routt County Justice Center Goes Solar!
The recently completed Routt County, (Steamboat Springs, Colorado) Justice Center has installed a 26.25 kW photovoltaic (PV) solar system, which will provide 10% of the building’s total electrical need. The County’s Justice Center becomes the first commercial size solar system in the Yampa Valley and is the county’s first publicly owned renewable energy project.

Northeast Denver Housing Center
Denver, CO
SolSource, Inc. has installed 18 PV systems (ten 1.57 kW and eight 1.47 kW systems) at a new LEED certified, affordable-housing rental project developed by the not-for-profit Northeast Denver Housing Center. The two ‘Central Park’ Apartment buildings are located within the award-winning Stapleton redevelopment project. The systems were commissioned on November 2nd during the 25th Anniversary open house attended by over 125 guests.

Dinosaur Ridge Visitors Center

WalMart Super Center Solar Wall Project
Aurora, CO
As the dealer for Solar Wall™ in Colorado, SolSource coordinated the installation of a 420 kW Solar Wall system, covering 8,000 sq. ft. at Walmart’s environmentally designed sustainable store in Aurora, Colorado. SolSource worked with the architects, mechanical engineers and the GC Turner Construction as well as trained and supported the installation of the wall by MB Roofing. The system will generate $20,000 in electricity savings per year.

Originally constructed in 1982 by the Solar Energy Research Institute, this passive solar home in Westminster, Colorado was designed to take maximum advantage of the Sun. Already a highly energy efficient home, the homeowner decided in the spring of 2006 to reduce his fossil fuel consumption by adding a PV system. With the introduction of the 4.7 kW array, the home now receives 90% of its total electrical needs from the sun.

Environmentally concerned since the early 80’s, Arlene and Steve wanted a PV system that would meet their basic electricity needs. Their 5.92 kW array covers nearly the entire south-facing portion of their roof. For maximum sun exposure, the system consists of two separate sixteen-panel arrays. On average, 25 kWhs of electricity are generated per day.
